Synopsis

Tina didn’t mean for it to go this far. The lie was only supposed to last long enough to pull him back in—to remind him what they had. But sympathy spreads quickly, and soon the story she created took on a life of its own.

Now, Tina is ready to let it go. No more pretending. No more damage. Just the truth—and a clean slate.

Jack, pragmatic and honest by nature, is left reeling. At first appalled, he tries to make sense of what she’s done. But as the day unfolds—and the ripple effects of Tina’s lie continue to benefit them both—he begins to test the waters of deceit himself. Gently.Quietly escalating the potential.

Clean Slate is a dark comedy about empathy, perception, and the subtle, seductive power of being seen in the way you choose, no matter the cost.

MUSIC PRODUCTION BY

Dave Pleiss

Writer/Director

During his fierce pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Film, Television & New Media at San Diego state University; David Pleiss along with his Co-Director both conceived and attended the greatest, one-week film boot camp of all time.

Upon graduation, David turned his professional attention to marketing and commercial development, simultaneously focusing on writing, ultimately collaborating with award-winning Slovak director Dušan Rapoš on his first feature film script, LIEFDE.

Spending several more years searching for the right story, it came in a blink as a short, and over time, evolved into the dark, psychological feature script, WINSTON. Leveraging his years of experience, David is now stepping back into the director’s chair more emotionally connected to his work than ever before.

On his path to a feature, Pleiss wrote the short story Clean Slate to sharpen his skills and demonstrate his story telling prowess. Loosely based on a true story, this story is a personal journey of empathy and connection.

Pleiss conceptualized a unique and focused marketing campaign around his screenplay, this technique will set the stage as a template to help other independent film makers as he continues growing his body of work.

A part-time musician, David also wrote and with the help of his producer and bandmates, recorded an original song for Clean Slate to support the production.
